I am new to "Classmate" and still pushing buttons on this program. I grew up on the eastside of Jacksonville (in the R.L. Brown Elementary & Mathew W. Gilbert Senior High School area). When intergration came in 1967, I went to Kirby Smith Junior High School; afterward, to Jackson Senior High School. My family relocated to the suburbs of Sherwood Forest where I attended Ribault Senior High School. There I was a two (2) letterman in football and track. I did not have much of a social life; after practice I went to work at night in a carpool with the Malibue Crew: Charles, J.B., and Chicken-man. I received a partial academic scholarship to UWF. I was later commissioned into the U.S. Air Force for 26 years. I was an average guy in school: 6'1" 185 lbs, dark complexion, slim build, and had a good size Afro (which I usually slicked back -- had a superfly thing going back then), wore clean cloths and and checked my personal grooming and hygiene.
